It has been too long since I have posted.... guess I was out to lunch all summer. Here is a sunday afternoon quick sketch... that turned into more of a finished study. Hadn't used painter for awhile.... so I thought I'd take a stab at it..

Here's a sketch from a figure drawing session a couple of weeks ago.

Submitted this painting yesterday to the Wet Paint fundraiser for the VCCA. The request was to make a piece of artwork within a 24 hr period. This is what I came up with after getting inspired by a photo taken by Chris Mayne.

I only thought of taking the picture at the last minute with the ole iphone.... so the picture quality isn't the best. I did here that the painting sold last night at the auction. Pretty stoked about that!

Here's a lion I had half finished for a while.... so I finished it up tonight. It is a bit bigger than the other watercolors I have been doing, 3"x 5"

A strangely proportioned odd mix of costume French Spaniard type guy I found in my sketchbook from a while back. Something new to look at anyway.

Monkey and Ray Gun

Was looking to practice some caricature a while back and randomly picked a picture of Tony Pastor out of a book of Swing era musicians. This is the sketch that I came up with.

Thought I'd give you a peak of a spread from our story that I told you about in the previous post. Here he is deep in the jungle on the hunt.

Today we have a couple of sketches of the rare and illusive Couch Imp. He is ravenously feasting on microwave popcorn while viewing a favorite cartoon.

A good sport to say the least he says "You can draw me if you want to dad" after which he strikes a mighty pose that he holds for a maximum of 30 minutes. Then he jumps down to come over and see the few lines I have put on the page and says "Thats not very good" and then continues to tell me how I can improve my drawing by making it look more like him and adding a sword and a monster at least.

I was lucky enough to stitch together a couple of 1-2 min poses he held in his zombie like state of viewing the mind numbing picture machine achieving this result. A fun model to say the least:)

Been trying to crank out some more watercolor and ink illo's among a thousand other things. Here's one that can be found at the Orignate shop. This guy is all business.

Been going to figure drawing sessions in Robert Bricker's studio at McGuffey Art Center here in Charlottesville. Here are a couple of 7 min gesture drawings from last week.

Here is a goofy bird I painted about a month ago. I was using acrylic paint on a small wooden board which was an experiment as I hadn't really used acrylic before. I don't know if it was the quality of the paint or just the nature of acrylic, but I don't think I will be making acrylic my main medium any time soon.

Chiustream creature was a little slow tonight.... got a late start and didn't have anything to turn in on time. This was the result shortly after the cutoff though.

It was supposed to be a 2000 year old creature and it looks like I came up with a fat bearded cow with a face like a dumptruck... but there is always next time right??
